This is a product where you get what you pay for from the manufacturer. If you want the smoothest espresso from a low maintenance, timeless espresso machine, this is the machine for the job. You can't go wrong with one of these if you know what you're doing.

Yes you have to practice and work-it for a time. But it leads you to understand the brewing process, grinding coffee and buying good coffee. La Pavoni is not only a work horse but also a teacher, how good could that be!

The fact is La Pavoni Professional is small in size, and it can easily fit in the smallest of the spaces effortlessly. The piston setup provides you hands-on experience on the espresso making and with time you will know how the perfect espresso tastes. Beautiful chrome body and lever operation make it a breeze to do. In the end, it’s not the press-button-and-ready coffee model. You need to put in the effort and learn how to use the La Pavoni Professional Machine. The end result is very satisfying. Overall, I would recommend this espresso machine.

Very nice machine. Heavily and well-built. Looks like it should last forever. Good price. Works very well, just as advertised. Only problem is the cappuccinos are so delicious that I need to switch to decaf, or I'll never sleep again. Easy to drink too many!

Bought this for my wife. Just as advertised, it took her a couple of weeks to get her technique down, but since then it's been her favorite coffee option. We do keep the french press handy, since we often don't have time for the full Pavoni process.

I've used this espresso maker daily since 2006. As others have said, you have to be willing to invest time and effort watching YouTube videos and learning as you go. But it's worth it. Forget chain coffee shops. Only a real barista at a good coffee shop can make make a better shot. Other caveats: a high quality burr grinder, fresh beans, weekly cleaning of the portafilter, and (about every 2 years) replacement of various rubber gaskets inside the machine. I'm not one of those people who typically takes things apart and fixes them. But this is a pretty simple machine & I can unscrew a few bolts & clips and figure it out. There are espresso forums dedicated to manual espresso makers that have helped me learn about all this stuff. I even take the unit with me on road trips. Friends/acquaintances have purchased more automated and fancy equipment only to have it break and ultimately collect dust. This product is one of the few consumer products left that is actually meant to be maintained & fixed rather than thrown away the moment something plastic breaks.

We have used this coffee espresso maker constantly for over ten years. I've rebuilt it twice so far and parts are easy to obtain and easy to install. It's a forever machine and a link with the past. More modern machines do create more pressure to extract more from the coffee grind but this simple lever machine will stay working after those wear out and are discarded. And the coffee from it tastes just fine.
