ZLINE Convertible Vent Island Mount Range Hood in Stainless Steel and Glass (GL14i)

The product itself seems to be great. Ive had it installed for a few weeks and all works great. The fan sucks well and is not overly loud.

We purchased and installed this range hood, ZLINE 36" Island Range Hood GL14i-36, about 22 months ago. We'd looked at MANY, so many, range hoods before making our decision to purchase this Z-Line model. We'd looked at many different units from many different manufacturers in many different price ranges in many different, but similar styles. We wanted an elegant look, excellent function (who cares how good it looks if it doesn't work - it has to do its job first and foremost) and easy cleaning. Additionally, I'm tall at 6' 4" so mounting it high enough so that the bottom edge would be above my sight line was an important feature to me, so that I could look at someone on the other side of the island without stooping. Therefore, the ability to mount this up to 36" above the stove top was also an important factor. Fortunately, there was a Range Hood Store near us, so we were able to go there and see their products (if you're not as lucky as we were to be nearby a store, know that everything we saw in the store was high quality and looked like the online pictures). We'd been concerned because of their excellent, very competitive prices that their products might be "cheap" in quality, look or construction WE FOUND OUT THOSE WORRIES WERE UNFOUNDED, so you can order online with confidence even if you have no nearby store to visit in person. Additionally, my wife worried that keeping it clean would be an issue, partly because of the glass portion of this hood. Well, it's pretty darn easy to keep clean and the dishwasher safe filter is nice too. Some people's reviews say that it is loud when in use . . . and, when it's on the highest setting, 4, it is kind of loud, BUT we've found it to be MUCH QUIETER than those BRAND X units in use by some of our friends over their islands. Further, our very quiet dishwasher is certainly louder than this hood, it's just not at ear height like our range hood, which I think may make seem folks think it's louder than it is. One last thing is the fact that there's a set of control buttons on each side of unit and I remember thinking, "There's no need for the duplicate set of buttons, I'll only use the ones on the same side as the stove top control knobs." But, now I cannot tell you just how handy it is to have the duplicate set of controls as we use them far more often than I would have ever thought. So, after almost 2 years we're still happy and we wanted to write this review, so you know you can order with confidence.

To be honest we had issues. We got an older model with faulty mounting brackets. But Z-line made up for it with outstanding customer support.

The hood is exactly as I envisioned and so far works perfectly.

Recently I decided to make some minor updates to my kitchen. Included in my short list of tasks was replacing my range hood. As usual, I went to the local box stores. Their products were somewhat comparable, but not available (to meet my needs). Like others, I turned to the internet and found the Zline Island Hood. The hood was comparable to those in the box stores, except it was available. Moreover, the staff member that assisted me was extraordinary. She was helpful and made salient recommendations that made a difference. The product was shipped and i received it in a few days. Installation was easy, though two workers who were renovating my kitchen installed it in about 45 minutes - start to finish. Great choice and i highly recommend this company. Kudos to the young women that assisted me.

Bought for a new home. Had to cut down angle irons and stainless ducts to install even though kit was supposed to work for and 8 to 9 foot ceiling. ( ours are 8and we wanted the hood to be 36 above range. Other than the retrofit, it is a nice hood. Love the 4 speed and the directional lights.

Most hoods don't enhance a kitchen, but this one sure does! The curved glass bottom and the simple stainless steel oblong vent allow for unobstructed views from our kitchen, dining and living room. It's one of the first thing guests mention when they enter our home. It's easy to operate, has multiple fan settings and the 4 lights, one in each corner really make it easy to see what you're cooking.

I bought this model after comparing several similar products. The main things that swayed me were the design, price, and fast shipping.
